The meeting was called to order by Chair Curtis Brown.
Members present: Curtis Brown, ChairThe TurnAround Team Nominating Committee is Delores Smith and Curtis Brown. Discussion was held on timelines, finding appropriate representatives for positions on the board, and the need to appoint a treasurer.
A query was made on whether we had conveyed our thanks to Jim Gardner who was very supportive of our request for funding for the Washburn-Lane Parkway. Curtis will see that this is done.
The corporate status of the TurnAround Team and the advantages and responsibilities of a 501(c)(3) corporation were considered. Joe Swalwell will check on the status of this.
Deliberation took place on what committees we should continue. Consensus was that we should keep the Washburn-Lane Parkway Committee, Communications, Safety, Historical Preservation, Housing, Policy/Personnel and Marketing and Image. It was decided that Youth and School and Code Enforcement will not be active at this time.
It was recommended that we have an appointment of an individual or committee with the specific purpose of recognizing and commending those individuals and/or entities along the Parkway making improvements to their properties.
Karen Hiller advised that we start now to secure commitments for funding from various businesses such as Dillons and Washburn University as it could take up to one year to secure these.
