The TurnAround Team, Inc. Board Meeting – 14 April 2005
The meeting was called to order at 7 PM by Deb Swank, Chair. In attendance were; Deborah Swank, Chairman, Robert Banks, Don Taylor, Delores Smith, Betty Dunhaupt, Christy Davis, Karen Hiller, Gail Kenefake, Ann Adams, and Don Rice.
- Karen talked about work on the Aaron Douglas Mural Project and covered volunteers and planning for the painting. We are on schedule to complete it for the May 23rd dedication. It should all start on April 16th at 10 AM and work will be undertaken to journal all of the work. Story boards need to be ordered now to meet the dedication date, but we need to make sure of what is on them before they are ordered. The revised budget is now at $49,000 and $41,600 is the current balance, plus a $5,000 commitment from Capitol Federal.
- The College Hill Business District spring clean up is set for April 16th and tool staging will be at 17th & Washburn in the WU lot. The neighborhoods are working out the crew needs. Students are to meet at 9:30 AM at the LLC and there will be lunch at 1 PM for all of the volunteers.
- Deb and Don Taylor reported on the work done by HND in the Tennessee Town NIA cleanup. They went and looked at the sidewalks where the power brush was used to clean the sidewalks. It is mixed results. Sidewalks will be sprayed after work on the mural is done then again in August. The trees planted along the demonstration phase need to be trimmed… any volunteers?
- We discussed the donation from Cox Communications. Don had the IRS 990 for Deb to take to Cox. The funds are not allocated to any particular project.
- We discussed some ideas for the nominations for recognitions at the April general meeting.
- Christy mentioned that the Kansas Preservation Conference is May 5-7 in Topeka at the Capital Plaza. Information at the Kansas State Historical Society website.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM.
