Duane Pomeroy called the meeting to order at 7 PM.

Present were: Rogers Brazier; Michelle Leivan; Sandy Jadlot; Alex Kovalchuk; Karen
Hiller; Barbara Leal; Roy O’Neil; Duane Pomeroy; Delores Smith; Don Taylor; and
Linda Woolf.

1 – Financial report from last month is the same except for the website costs.
$15,000 CD is rolling over. Interest is about $620+ and will be pulled out.
The CD is unencumbered funds. Motion to withdraw all the interest and put
into the checking account. Passed without opposition. The Art Fair dipped
into encumbered funds last year. Monies from the Topeka Community
Foundation authorized in September will be covering the costs for post cards
and Aaron Douglas Art Fair overages. The check from Historic Old Town NIA
hasn’t shown up yet. Discussion of the need for a PO box. The Buchanan
Center is our corporate address and has been for some time.
2 – Minutes are posted. Don Taylor will try to get minutes sent to Alex in a
more timely manner.
3 – College Hill Redevelopment – WU Student Government Association is
planning a safety fair this spring. The students are concerned about safety
and image of the redevelopment area. We will coordinate with College Hill
Redevelopment office and WSGA for the February general meeting. (Whitney.
Phillipi@washburn.edu) The Submarina sandwich shop looks like it is ready
to open.
4 – Discussion of future meetings. The July general meeting is a pool party
at College Hill.
5 – Aaron Douglas Art Fair. Michelle Leivan, AADF Committee chair,
introduced herself. She in active at the Art Guild and the Art Collective and
works two days a week at Southwind Gallery. She talked about concepts for
the next art fair and fund raising issues. Michele is looking to fill some spots
on the committee. September 26th is the date for the 2009 fair. A
discussion of various ideas for the next fair to increase interest.
6 – Other Business – Duane wants to try to get the Bylaws Committee
moving. Alex is working on getting all of the pictures uploaded to the
website. Jeff Imparado may be helping us with grants. Jeff works at the
library.
