The TurnAround Team, Inc.
General Meeting February  2008
Rob Banks called the meeting to order at 7 PM.

Present were eleven people.
1 – Karen Hiller introduced the people from Washburn University Law School
Small Business & Transactional Development Clinic.
Professor Janet
Thompson-Jackson briefly outlined what the clinic does.  The customer base is
small businesses and non-profit organizations.  The clinic is an educational
unit and does actual representation of the clients.  It is needs based for
screening, using the same criteria as Legal Aid.  Janet went over what kinds of
things the clinic can help with.  The business entity is the client, not
individuals.  There is a presumption that non-profit organizations will be
eligible for assistance.  4 to 6 students work in the clinic per semester and
typically runs 9 months of the year.  The attending law students took turns
discussing the kinds of projects that they are working on the scope of assistance
that the clinic provides.  From the time an application is files it takes about 7
days for intake then a screening interview is set up.  If a client is approved it
takes about 7 days for that process.  Everything from business plan development,
contracts, referral to other resources, regulation compliance, copyright /
trademark, to determining what kind of organizational structure should be set
up.  They can even help with writing / amending bylaws and putting together a
board handbook.

2 – Rob announced that he is going to step down as chair at the 13 March
2008 board meeting because of time constraints.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
