Metal banners are hung along the demonstration leg of the Washburn-Lane Parkway which is from 10th to 12th street along Washburn Avenue. Elmhurst residents John Hinkson, Chad and Pam Mullins, along with the Central Congregational Church youth group, the Stars and Moons youth group from Central Park Rec Center, and several TurnAround Team members spent two hours hanging the banners. They look wonderful! Elmhurst banners along with TurnAround Team and Washburn-Lane Parkway banners on the west, and Tennessee Town banners along with TurnAround Team and Washburn-Lane Parkway banners on the east side.
Drive by and take a look. Along with banner hanging, trash was picked up along the section -- a whole lot of trash. It seems appropriate to enlist volunteers to keep this section of the Parkway as trash-free as possible as it reflects upon our neighborhood. Food for thought.
People who are interested in improving the quality and image of Central Topeka, particularly people who live in or own property in the Central Topeka area from Monroe to MacVicar and 21st to the Kansas River, are particularly encouraged to attend. For further information, call 234-2883.
