NA's and NIA's good news!
photo

The Turnaround Team will kick off the ideas to help our NA's and NIA's. Starting tonight at the Topeka and Shawnee County Library at 7 pm.

The Turnaround Teams web site will host a positive view of our neighborhoods that are a part of what we represent.

Some of the vision (lacking input from our neighbors) will include from a visitors view (not in any order):

  • a short history of the neighborhood
  • pictures of some of the notable places in the neighborhood, playgrounds, churches, houses, businesses, etc.
  • information about when and where neighbors meet
  • possible events
  • contact information for the neighborhood
  • comments to the neighborhood group can be addressed

We as the Turnaround Team hope that we do have input from our neighbors. We also hope to fill vacancies on our board!

Well guys... we didn't have 150 students...

But after a week and rain on both days...

We want to thank all of the Washburn students for your community service help. And for the University United Methodist Church for hosting our dinner space. And of course the cooks Don and Henry. And of course the drivers of the trollys from the city! And all of the extra folks that helped set up and break down the event!

And special thanks  for the developers of the Washburn/Lane Parkway College Hill project for setting up their display and answering questions.

P.S. This is a blog... I have noticed a lot of "views" and no kudos or comments of any kind. Speak up - or keep reading on!

The Aaron Douglas Art Fair is shaping up...

Almost everything is in place...

We've have some folks say... "it's not worth my time in that short time frame" or "it's too expensive"... WHAT?!?!?

On the positive side... "hey great idea for our youth",  "great idea for the community", "I support art", "As a vendor this is cheap for a fee", etc. etc. etc.

More positives than bad comments... I'm sorry that we will not have some people involved who could show their stuff and support this first humble beginings... personally I am inspired by all that has come to where we are!
